including a 25,000 square metre warehouse floor and 4,400 square metres
of office space.
special features:-
Post-tensioned warehouse ground slab. Slab pours up to 49m x 43m using
laser guided screeding. Racking post loads up to 5.2 tonnes. Light
structural steel roof framing with 25m x 10.83m grid set out. Three
internal lightweight structural steel mezzanines. Portal frames to
resist lateral wind loads in each direction alleviating the need for
internal wall bracing. Warehouse air-conditioned to 25oC.
Post-tensioned second floor office slab (flat slab with drop panels)
Precast facades in office and warehouse. Concrete pavements for truck
manoeuvring and dock area. AC carpark.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Consolidation of storage and distribution functions for
Department of Defence
at Moorebank. Involved 26 new buildings of total floor area 90,000
square metres and the refurbishment
of 26 existing buildings to meet modern requirements.

Major implementation
of quality systems to AS 3901.Significant savings in buildings resulted in savings on original scope of work, allowing additional
improvements on the site.
Significant innovations to reduce costs. Buildings suited to all forms of storage including high risk racking
systems. Existing operations on site continued during construction. Design period compressed to 18 months, on going during construction.
