Refurbishment

PROJECT VALUE

$13M

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The proposed refurbishment included removal of walls between rooms 154 – 160 and lecture rooms 3 – 5, removal of wall in remaining areas of level 1 – 3 and level 4, as well as the construction of a new lift.

The building is up to 4 storeys in height with a brick façade and tiled roof to the upper floors. Based upon the existing drawings available, it was built circa 1964 and has been used by the Faculty of Economics. Level 1 and 2 housed lecture theatres and teaching areas. Levels 3 and 4 housed staff offices.

SCP provided structural guidance to assist in the planning of the proposed limited refurbishment of the existing Merewether building located at the University of Sydney. SCP Consulting visually inspected the existing visible elements of the building.

This inspection, in conjunction with a review of the available existing structural drawings and proposed architectural drawings forms the basis of the initial structural assessment report.
